Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Pawtuxet Park Community Meeting on July 30 and to those who have shared feedback through the project website. The project team is reviewing all comments as we continue to develop the park improvement plan.
Community feedback has highlighted several priorities and areas for further study, including:
Preserving the park’s open lawn and flexible spaces for community events and everyday use. We understand that the community is not in favor of adding an amphitheater.
Strengthening shoreline resilience and addressing flooding, erosion, stormwater, and invasive vegetation.
Exploring opportunities for children’s play and recreation that are appropriate to the park and community.
Improving access to the waterfront and evaluating how kayak launching can work safely and conveniently.
Expanding accessibility throughout the park for people of different ages and abilities.
Considering long-term maintenance and the needs of the community organizations and events that regularly use the park.
The project team is using this feedback to evaluate and refine the concepts presented at the community meeting. Updated concepts will be shared with the community as the design process continues.
