About the Park
Existing Conditions
An analysis of Pawtuxet Park's current state, highlighting key areas that require improvement to serve our community better.
RIVER ACCESS POINTS
Current access to the Pawtuxet River is limited by overgrown vegetation and unstable embankments, making it difficult for residents to enjoy the waterfront.
HISTORIC GAZEBO
Targeted electrical improvements to support lighting, events, and daily use.
PUBLIC PARKING AREA
Expansive asphalt lot offers limited shade, minimal stormwater capture, and lacks organized boat trailer parking areas.
EXISTING VEGETATION
Invasive species are beginning to crowd out native trees, threatening the local ecosystem and blocking scenic views of the water.
PEDESTRIAN PATHWAYS
Steep and uneven paths, low-lying areas prone to sediment, and limited accessible routes to the boathouse.
PLAYGROUND FACILITIES
Existing play equipment, including climbers and swings, is not universally accessible, requires safety surfacing upgrades, and is located within the floodplain.
STORMWATER DRAINAGE
Limited infrastructure to capture and treat runoff, contributing to poor site drainage.
The collective effort of dedicated residents and local organizations committed to the revitalization of Pawtuxet Park.
